Total income: 1.277 billion euros
Record result for GEMA: The collective management organisation collected EUR 1.277 bn in 2023. The chart shows the allocation of the respective revenues across individual income categories.
GEMA pays out more than 1 billion euros
Reliable partner: GEMA is paying out EUR 1.082bn to its members and rightsholders all over the world. Once more, the distributable amount thus exceeds the one-billion-euro-threshold.

Membership numbers & sustainability
Membership numbers: In spring, GEMA welcomed its 90,000th member. Overall, 5,849 members joined in 2023. GEMA is also sustainable with its environmentally friendly endeavours and CO2 reduction.
AI study by GEMA and SACEM
How will AI technologies change the music business? GEMA has already investigated this question intensively in 2023. A study on behalf of GEMA and SACEM shows that AI music is going to play an increasing role in the music market. GEMA CEO, Tobias Holzmüller, emphasises: “The legal framework must be designed in such a way that all parties involved participate appropriately in the long-term success of this development.”
