Online-Services for GEMA members
The spread of the corona pandemic has a massive and immediate impact on the music and culture industries: The widespread cancellation of music events and the closure of cultural facilities are threatening the existence of many music professionals and creatives. In order to cushion the devastating economic effects of the pandemic as best as possible, the Managing Committee and the Supervisory Board of GEMA have decided on an emergency relief programme for GEMA members, under which composers, lyricists and music publishers can apply for financial support from GEMA. The emergency relief programme consists of two stages:
Questions about GEMA's emergency relief programme ("Schutzschirm LIVE" and "Corona Relief Fund") should be sent to the e-mail address firstname.lastname@example.org.
With the "Schutzschirm LIVE", GEMA provides a blanket emergency relief scheme under which music authors can apply for a prepayment on their future distributions in the distribution categories of live performance and communication to the public. This financial support is primarily aimed at composers and lyricists of GEMA who are also performers and who get into financial difficulties due to cancellations of events throughout the country.
Applications may be submitted from now on. In order to be able to guarantee efficient support at short notice, applications can only be submitted via the GEMA Onlineportal for members.
Composers and lyricists who have got into financial difficulties due to the corona pandemic but do not yet have an account for the GEMA Online Portal can register here. After that, log in, fill out the activation form and send it as a PDF attachment via e-mail to email@example.com, subject: "Schutzschirm LIVE" You will automatically receive an e-mail when you have been activated.
The detailed conditions for participation in "Schutzschirm Live" can be found here.
GEMA as a solidarity community has set up a fund from the funds for social and cultural promotion ("Corona Relief Fund"), from which GEMA members whose existence is threatened can apply for a one-off personal transitional aid. The "Corona relief fund", which is supported by the GEMA Welfare Fund [Sozialkasse] and the various rating and assessment procedures [Wertungsverfahren], is intended to support composers, lyricists and music publishers who are exceptionally hard hit by the corona pandemic and whose individual hardship caused by the pandemic cannot already be compensated for by the "Schutzschirm LIVE" or other support services.
Depending on how personally affected members are by the corona pandemic, they can apply for transitional aid of up to EUR 5,000 from the Corona Relief Fund.
In order to ensure that applications can be processed efficiently, we ask you to use only the application form provided by GEMA for the application. Unfortunately, any applications that reach GEMA otherwise cannot be taken into consideration. GEMA will process the applications successively after receipt.
