EXCELLENT!
In 2025, GEMA once again honored those who have made a special contribution to enriching our musical lives. These include, above all, artists, as well as radio stations and, for the first time, the Music Bar of the Year. For us, these awards are an important contribution to musical diversity and a vibrant music culture.

The German Music Authors' Award
The 16th German Music Authors' Award, held in February 2025, was presented in a wide range of categories, including hip-hop, Schlager, orchestral music, musicals, rock/pop, electronic music, audiovisual media, most successful work, lifetime achievement, emerging talent, and inspiration. All the award recipients are outstanding composers and lyricists in their respective musical fields.
Radio Culture Award
An anniversary for the Radio Culture Award – in 2025, the coveted prize was awarded for the tenth time. The award went to two very different stations that have one thing in common. They offer their audiences unique access to German-language music: BR-KLASSIK in the category “Classical Music, Jazz, and Other Sophisticated Vocal and Instrumental Music”; Schlager Radio in the category “Light Music, with a Focus on Rock and Pop Music.”

MUSIC BAR OF THE YEAR
An award for places that love music—places that bring people together and give us unforgettable evenings. That’s what the “Music Pub of the Year” award stands for—launched in 2025. The winner of the award is “Töpfla – Die Kultkneipe” from Höchstadt an der Aisch. A passion for live music, unmistakable charm, and a genuine pub atmosphere set the winner apart. The award ceremony featured prominent guests such as Peter Maffay, Kasalla, and LaBrassBanda.
The Fred-Jay-price
The Fred Jay Prize is sponsored by Michael Jacobson, the son of Fred Jay. In 2025, it was awarded at the general meeting to the musical cabaret artist, actor, and singer-songwriter Bodo Wartke. The award recognizes his outstanding ability to transform the German language into artistic, humorous, and at the same time profound song lyrics.
