Can the income tax and the solidarity tax deducted by GEMA be refunded?
GEMA cannot itself refund any income tax or solidarity surcharge it has deducted. We pay the amounts we have withheld directly to the relevant tax office. Any refund or credit will be dealt with exclusively as part of your personal tax assessment by the tax office or the relevant authority.
To help you choose the approach that suits you best (for example, exemption or a refund via the Federal Central Tax Office), our Members and Partners Administration department will be happy to assist you. The Members and Partners Administration department will be happy to advise you at mitgliederpartner@gema.de.
