How can I add details to sound recordings for my work?

Information can only be added to sound recordings by GEMA members who are direct participants in the works, and/or by their legal successors or authorised representatives.

The easiest way to add details for sound recordings are via our Online Portal.

1. Go in the dashboard on My repertoire and select the work version for which you want to provide details on the sound recordings.

2. In the selection menu (3-item menu / options), please select Amend sound recording.
 
3. In the new dialogue window, you can now enter the details for the sound recording.
4. Select first whether the details you provide is regarding a published sound recording or library music.
 

5. The following fields are available:

  1. Title of the recording (track title)
  2. Version (e.g. radio edit, live etc.)
  3. Performers including their roles (e.g. main artist, featured artist etc.)
  4. Date of the first publication (release)
  5. ISRC (International Standard Recording Code)
  6. Provider track ID, MPN ID

The following details are mandatory for released sound recordings:
Title of the recording (this is pre-filled with the work title but it is possible to amend this), performer incl. role and the ISRC or the date of the first publication.

The following details are mandatory for library music: Title of the recording (this is pre-filled with the work title but it is possible to amend this), the ISRC or the date of the first publication.

6. Once you have entered the details on the sound recording, please confirm your entry by clicking the button Create. After that, you get a confirmation notification in your Online Portal mailbox.

Glossar

Production music (also referred to as archive music or stock music) is music published in libraries and has been created specifically for the making of video and audio productions (documentaries, magazine programmes, feature films, games). 

Provide this information only if the ISRC was used alternatively for the same sound recording.  

A unique identifier for a musical work registered with GEMA.

Person(s) or bands who perform the work. 
If the performance took place by a band, an ensemble or an orchestra, please always provide the band name and not the names of the individuals. Any soloists should be entered additionally as a main artist or featuring artist or conductor. 

International Standard Recording Code - the globally used digital identifier for audio and video recordings. The ISRC is a 12-digit alphanumeric code. 

International Standard Musical Work Code -a unique international ID number for musical works. 

Unique identifier for a sound recording which has been issued by the Music Promotion Network (MPN).  

Unique identifier for a sound recording in the system resp. producer catalogue.

Sound recording which has been released physically or online for commercial purposes.
