Why can I not request an activation code?
There may be several reasons why requesting such activation codes do not work in the Online Portal.
- Are you stuck when entering the membership number? Please enter the membership number without any of the preceding zeros.
- Is it possible that you selected the role Customer instead of GEMA Member when registering with us? Kindly send us an email to mitgliederservice@gema.de so that we can update the role. Once this has been taken care of, you can request the activation code.
- You details such as your address or bank details have changed and are not yet in our system? In that case, please send us your details so we can match them. As soon as we have checked them and maybe updated them in our syste, you can request the activation code. You can also check and amend your details in the Online Portal under My details.
- Are you the owner of a publisher, or a publisher employee, a legal successor or authorised representative of a member? Only creators themselves can request the activation code. Please use the activation application. Once your account has been activated, we inform you by email.
- Are you under 18 years old? In this case, please use the activation application and have your parent or legal guardian sign it.
- Do you have several online accounts or did you set up your accounts under an email address we do not have? Please use the activation application and indicate which email address you want to use for the Online Portal.
- Have you recently tried to request the code several times? Please wait a few working days and try again.
If none of the above applies and if you still cannot request a code please send us an email to mitgliederservice@gema.de and mention "Code anfordern funktioniert nicht" [Cannot request code] in the subject line as well as your membership number, your login mail address, your date of birth and your current address.
