Why do I have to confirm during the work declaration process that my work was not created exclusively by AI?

Generative artificial intelligence (genAI) allows you to “produce” music in just seconds and distribute it to the masses with a single mouse click. To prevent damage to the musical and cultural ecosystem, GEMA has introduced the AI checkbox in its online work registration form. We would like to prevent that money is paid out for content that did not require any creative work.

This is why we introduced a tick box where you need to confirm that the work was not created exclusively by AI.

Therefore, you do tick the box in cases where the work to be registered was created entirely or partially without AI.

The AI tick box for online work declarations was introduced in the course of our anti-fraud-campaign whose objective is to prevent fraud.
