I give up my business. Why do I not have a special right of termination?

The GEMA General Terms and Conditions do not provide for a special right of termination in the event of ceasing business operations. Quarterly and annual contracts may only be terminated in the ordinary course at the end of the agreed contract term. This provision applies regardless of whether you cease trading, as you benefit from reduced monthly fees for longer contract terms.

Extraordinary termination is only possible if there is good cause within the meaning of Section 314 of the German Civil Code (BGB). The ordinary notice period and the termination date are set out in your respective contract type in accordance with the General Terms and Conditions.
