Election of delegates
The delegates take part in the GEMA General Assembly as representatives of the extraordinary members. This year, the professional groups will elect up to 64 delegates for the General Assemblies 2025 to 2027.
Submit candidacy or proposals
Until May 10, 2024 or on site at the meeting extraordinary members can submit their candidacy or proposals for the office of delegate
Election of new delegates
of the associate members for the 2025–2027 General Assembly meetings
The new delegates and their alternates will be elected at the meeting of the associate members on 14 May 2024. Associate members can submit proposals for candidates and nominations for their respective professional category as follows:
Up to 64 delegates, including
- up to 32 composers (at least 12 of which should be successors in title),
- up to 12 lyricists (at least 4 of which should be successors in title),
- up to 20 publishers
and up to 5 alternates for each professional category.
Each candidate
- must attend the meeting personally,
- must have been a GEMA member for at least two years,
- and must have earned a total amount of royalties of at least EUR 50.00 in the two calendar years preceding the year of the election.
Members authorised to represent a full publisher member cannot be elected as delegate or alternate at the same time.
In the run-up to the meeting until Friday, 10 May 2024, or directly at the meeting of associate members.

All candidates who submit their declaration as candidates by 2 May 2024 and meet the criteria to stand for election may be introduced by a short profile on gema.de.

Delegates and their alternates are elected as early as one year before their first participation in the General Assembly meeting. This means that
- current delegates can exercise their office one more time at the meetings of the full members on 15 and 16 May 2024
- and the term of office of the delegates newly elected in 2024 will begin to run only after the end of the 2024 General Assembly meeting. However, the newly elected delegates may attend the meetings of the full members on 15 and 16 May 2024 as guests.

By-election of delegates
of the associate members for the 2024 General Assembly meeting
Given that some of the delegates elected at the 2021 General Assembly meeting have ceased to hold this office because they attained full membership (or for similar reasons), a by-election of delegates will be held as part of the meeting of associate members on 14 May 2024.
The delegates elected in the by-election can participate and exercise their voting right in the meetings of the full members on 15 and 16 May.
It is possible to stand as a candidate both for the election of new delegates for the 2025 to 2027 General Assembly meetings and for the by-election of delegates for the 2024 General Assembly meeting.
