The Music Fights Fraud Alliance (MFFA), the music industry’s united coalition to fight fraud and develop anti-fraud solutions, recently welcomed 12 new member companies, announced new leadership, and expanded its mission to address publishing-specific fraud as the nonprofit organization continues to expand to address fraud across the industry. Having more than doubled its membership since 2025 – to more than 35 organizations across the global music supply chain– the Alliance now reflects a significant share of the world’s digital music traffic, enabling a more sophisticated and unified approach to mitigate and deter suspicious and fraudulent activity.

Der Sänger, Songwriter und Schauspieler Jan Plewka wird in diesem Jahr mit dem renommierten Fred Jay Preis für deutsche Textkunst ausgezeichnet. Mit seiner Band Selig prägte er die Rockmusik der 1990er Jahre wie kaum ein Zweiter, ihre Alben schaffen es bis heute regelmäßig in die Top 10 der Album Charts. 2025 veröffentlichte der interdisziplinäre Künstler „Eine Art Soloalbum“ – ein beeindruckendes Solowerk, mit dem er aktuell auf Tour ist und das er durch den Verkauf seiner Bilder finanzierte. Die mit 15.000 Euro dotierte Auszeichnung nimmt Jan Plewka am 5. Mai 2026 persönlich in Berlin entgegen. 

Higher payouts, lower costs: GEMA closed the 2025 financial year with an excellent set of results. The total distributable amount came to EUR 1.15 billion (2024: EUR 1.13 billion), total earnings came to EUR 1.34 billion (2024: EUR 1.33 billion). Much like the music market as a whole, GEMA achieved strong growth despite difficult trading conditions. Rigorous cost management, combined with the carefully planned digitisation and automation of the society’s administration, reduced the overall cost ratio by 0.8 percentage points to 14.1 percent. GEMA is holding its own in a music market characterised by disruption and geopolitical headwinds, once again demonstrating how dependable the collecting society is as a partner to more than 100,000 members.
